Captain W.E. Johns - Belgium

In Belgium 9 Biggles books were published in Dutch by "De Ster", Antwerpen in the fifties. This company also published 4 Gimlet and 5 Steeley books.

In the sixties and finally in 1998 "Studio Vandersteen", Antwerpen published 21 Dutch comic Biggles albums. In 1995 the first Archief Biggles album with a set of two comics appeared, which was meant to become a series.

Lefrancq, Brussels, published 4 Biggles books, three omnibuses and the French edition of "Archief Biggles" called "Archives Biggles".

Since 1990 "Miklo SA", Brussels published 17 comic Biggles albums in Dutch and French and some in German, English and Czech. In 2003 these series were taken over by Le Lombard, Brussels.

Nowadays MIKLO publishes the series Biggles Héritage, Biggles présente... (aviation art) and Biggles L'intégrale (omnibuses).

Beside this MIKLO publishes a new series of Dutch books which never were translated into Dutch previously. The titles are "Biggles en zijn basis" (2001), "Biggles en de pechvogel" (2002) and "Biggles Vlieger-rechercheur" (2003).

This series was continued by the I.B.A. in a new series that hopefully will comprise of translations of the Steeley and Gimlet as well. For 2011 a translation of "Comrades in arms" is planned, containing the Biggles story "Thunder over Germany".

So far, the I.B.A. published:
1. Biggles in Frankrijk (2009)
2. Biggles trekt ten strijde (2010)

Detailed information about these publishing companies and their editions can be found in the Captain W.E. Johns Catalogus (sold out).
