That the typical English war pilot and secret agent Biggles didn't become public hero number one in the country of his traditional arch-enemy, Germany, won't surprise anyone. Still there were, as far as we know, four Biggles books published in Germany.
It is therefore even more remarkable that the first translation of a Captain Johns book, "The Camels are coming", was printed in Germany in 1936, with the title "Feindliche Flieger in Sicht" (= Enemy Pilot in Sight).
The second book "Biggels auf der Perlenjacht" (original title "Biggles in the South Seas", 1940) was published in 1948. The third book "To other Worlds - Voyages of exploration to Venus and Mars" is an English school edition. This book is an abridged version of Kings of Space. The book was published in 1962. The fourth book "Biggles breaks the silence" is also a school edition.

By the way, in German language there are the following Swiss publications, in which Biggles is called "Biggels":
